Chephrens, 2013
During Christmas break I photographed clay copies of the famous sculpture of Egyptian pharaoh Chephren, created by a class of 9th-graders, at the art room of my former high school. Being an art teacher myself, I'm always curious at what point talent begins to show: How do we decide which piece has simply failed, and which one shows artistic ambition in its deviation from the model?
