This installation by Ingo Vetter & myself was conceived for a solo exhibition at the Förderverein Aktuelle Kunst, Münster, Germany. The exhibition space is situated in a bourgeois residential area with well-kept front gardens. At the same time this is a part of Germany with a lot of political tensions since a ultimate disposal place for atomic waste is situated nearby. Just some weeks before our opening an extraordinary violent clash between demonstrators and police occurred. We cooperated with a local activist group who provided the ground level video footage of the clash and used news footage for arial views shot from police helicopters. Then we planted the arial view of the demonstration as a flower bed and thus raised the rhetorical question what other subversive content might be hidden underneath the seemingly innocent designs of the neighboring gardens.
